We did some more tests. In particular:

- Deleting the GPT from the Ubuntu ISO image nothing changes. The ISO
is still recognized and bootable.
- An Endless ISO generated with `grub-mkrescue` without any
`--xorriso` argument is correctly recognized by the UEFI.
- An Endless ISO with a mjg layout (obtained by `grub-mkrescue` +
`grub-mkrescue-sed.sh`) is not recognized by the UEFI.

I'm still a bit confused why the Ubuntu mjg layout is correctly seen
by UEFI and the mjg layout of the Endless OS is not. I'll try to
investigate this a bit more. Probably the type of the MBR partition is
making the difference here? Or is it because on Ubuntu `efi.img` is
mapped on the second GPT partition while I don't see the same for the
Endless OS mjg layout?

Cheers,
