 dynamically, and the libs wont load when its built statically.  sigh.


 its working for reasons that are utterly baffling.  i did a debugbuild,
 still crashed, started up gdb over it, which made gdb hang three times
 (had to click close on the window bar), but now it works.  i have all the
 object files and whatnot if you are interested.  i have no clue why its
 working or for how long.
