Comment:

 I've set 2.731 as the canonical chicken (symlinks from the "standard"
 filesystem locations to the chicken-2.731 dir and the dynamic libs setup
 via ldconfig).

 I'll wait some days to see if something breaks.  If nothing breaks, I'll
 close this ticket.
