We'll have a look at including it in the coreutils release
after the imminent one (a few weeks time), along with the
sha3 implementation.

I'm leaning towards no new commands, and instead having a single util.
I see netbsd cksum has the '-a algorithm' option,
so we might copy that to minimize divergences.

BTW have you tried to submit to openssl?
The implementation in coreutils will probably stick to generic C,
while there is already framework in place in openssl to
select the most appropriate system specific implementation.
