There's a line in /etc/sourceforge/local.inc.template (line 153 here)
that reads
,----
| $sys_theme='debian';
`----
Change this value to something else ('forged', 'savannah', 'classic'
or some other name), and your default theme will be updated.
Don't forget to run sourceforge-config afterwards to take the
changes into account.
