OK following on from Dave , Matt and Eric's comments yesterday
I have been looking what parts I have available to me for knocking up
a quick 10.7 MHz IF to soundcard decoder. I already have a small PCB
quadrature demodulator using a RF2711 and a 21.4 MHz xtal oscillator
so I might as well use those. I may also need to amplify the I & Q
outputs with op-amps and can easily add a 25 KHz low pass filter on to
both of them also. My 10.7 MHz IF is comming from a mod I did to a
AOR3000 receiver and I now seem to have found a point on the circuit where
I can extract a larger signal. So perhaps I can do without an IF amp I
don't know.

Anyway all being well early tomorrow morning I shall try and connect
the circuits I have together and mount them on something so they are
usable for experimentation. If I do need an IF amp I will probably use a
Agilent 5V powered MMIC. Nice and simple to use plus amazing spec for
just over 1 pound.
