Depends on your definition of "free" ;-)

The CVS version of MOKit, hosted on Soul^Wsourceforge states:

  Ferris Public Source License Ver. 1.2

  0. This license is based on the Apple Public Source License version
  1.2. All references to Apple, Apple Computer, and any other Apple
  trademarks or copyrights have been modified or removed.

For a OS hard-liner it certainly isn't free as, say GPL
(And no, I don't want to start another discussion on THAT issue :-)
