While submiting a story to Slashdot few minutes ago, I have realised one thing:
Gorm has no public announcement. How was Gorm announced:
- on the list - private
- on the blog - more private (GNUstep subcommunity)
- on the GNUstep site - a very brief line

The last "announcement" is equal to other minor releases or another news that
are not very important to the public outside GNUstep. The first news line on
the GNUstep page says: "Oct 29: Gorm-1.0.0 released" - "so what?"

What is missing? Path full of rose petals, confetti, horse parade, pidgeons and
fireworks. Large fireworks, so others see it and will write about it.

Suggestion: put large frame/box dedicated to Gorm 1.0 on the GNUstep front page
and Gorm homepage. The frame should contain highlighted Gorm features, Gorm
logo and screenshot thumbnail. Oh yes, and the frame should contain a ladge
package icon with: "Download Gorm 1.0 here" with pointers to sources and
binaries.

Sorry, Gorm 1.0 was finished, but not yet released. So no news here for the
Slashdot crowd. Who cares about "another application from unimportant
community"?

Stefan Urbanek

p.s.: Again and again, see how other successful players are doing. They even
have week of fireworks for even a minor release of a project with less
importance and quality than Gorm. And guess what: it works and they got
publicity with all consequences to the future...
