If you install gnustep via Debian, and you want to start an  
application, you don't need to do anything, just

openapp MyApp.app


If you want to develop/compile other applications/libraries, you  
would need to source GNUstep.sh

FYI, there's no official GNUstep desktop, but you can start with the  
GNUstep workspace/finder: GWorkspace.app

openapp GWorkspace.app

and also check out the apps at Etoile: http://www.etoile-project.org
