Just one more question... how sensible is it to use those OSTypes to do it? I've seen them all over the Apple docs, but gcc spits out a bunch of warnings.
Something like:
enum
{
GSSoundUChar = 'UCHR'
GSSoundSChar = 'CHAR'
GSSoundShort = 'SHRT'
....
}
