you should check your user defaults. Try
  defaults read NSGlobalDomain GSLPRPrinters
I'd expect it to return a printer whose PPDPath is (apparently incorrectly) set 
to 
/Local/Library/PostScript/PPD/English.lproj/Generic-PostScript_Printer-Postscript.ppd
