Currently I oblomowize Melody only and try to convince :-). I've just made a weak proposal in the start of this thread and I have got nothing more than a couple of external links that deal with similar ideas. I might probably prepare this better later, but can look at these pages if you want to get a picture:
(Melody is something like MLTREE, preserving function signatures, type information, block scopes etc.)
