Regarding hardware compatibility and "errors" with SONY DRU-120, PHILIPS DVDRW228 and alike [RICOH MP512xA derivatives in other words].
dvdrtools support DVD-R[W] drives and DVD-R[W] drives only. SONY, PHILIPS, RICOH, HP, etc. drives branded with DVD+ReWritable logo are DVD+R[W] drives and are *not* supported by dvdrtools [despite what RedHat 7.3 Release Notes say].
