Luc, I said that I would do *exactly that* in the FIFTH message in the
thread: "But this is not really important, I was just curious. For my
own use it *is* an error to set overwrite-mode in a read-only buffer,
so I'll defadvice around the issue."

The rest is David (with a little help from Andreas) failing to
convince me that I cannot possibly be confused when I do type <insert>
in a read-only buffer (and, as a corollary, that no one could possibly
be, or that if we are, that's illogical because No Harm Is Done).

This discussion ceased to be about technical matters very soon, and
turned into psychology of perception. Alas, I refuse to be told by
others how I do perceive my environment :)
