Given that mac/ns/w32 is not free software, and xterm/xclock and so on is, I'd 
say the latter.

Well, nitpick: ns as in the quietly-still-alive gnustep is free? (does look like gnustep is growing srgb support [1]).

And I did leave out "and web browsers", some of 'em are free.
