Yes, it could be useful. One should come up with a concrete specification like
what exactly should be implemented and an estimation of how much time it takes.
Somebody on Reddit mentioned that Clojure has a setup where the community
sponsors the implementation of features. Emacs could also have something
similar:
In the Clojure community, there is something called ClojuristsTogether,
where they
fund several opensource projects for 3 months, compensated for $3k a month.
