But I think you meant Emacs 25 and earlier, with my Emacs 26 y-or-n-p does use the minibuffer.This time I did read the NEWS entry. For Emacs 27.1 it says *** 'y-or-n-p' now uses the minibuffer to read 'y' or 'n' answer.
