As a single data point, I have not seen a Word document passed in a
mail attachment in a long time. Most collaboration is now happening in
Google Documents (and Sheets), Dropbox Paper, and Notion. I.e.:
systems where multiple participants can edit and/or comment the same
document simultaneously.
