I'm confused.  How would that switch be related to the question whether
people test anything more when it's been merged in than when it's on a
separate branch?  They need the switch in either case.

If no one tests them how will they get fixed?  Isn't that a dog chasing
its tail?  Moreover, I suppose that most people currently testing pgtk
are on Wayland, so user experiences might vary widely.
