Planner has "project pages" or "plan pages". Each "project" gets its
own text file. The organization is pretty free-form, so whatever
works for you.

PlannerMode works best with RememberMode. If I want to remember
something I do "M-x remember" (bound to "C-x C-n"). A buffer comes up
that I can write my note. If PlannerMode is able to, it inserts a
hyperlink. When you are done writing your note, you are prompted for
what PlanPage to file your note. Of course, you are also welcome to
edit the PlanPage by hand.

Tasks work in a similar way, with planner-create-task-from-buffer (C-x
C-t).

As do diary entries with planner-diary-add-entry (C-x C-d for me).

Cheers, Jody
