Yes, I have looked at the ftstrtto source.  I wasn't able to get the string
rendered correctly specifying the liga feature either.

I am using the medi, fina, isol and init features.

The arabic I am displaying looks ok except for two characters (an ALEF and a
LAM, if your interested.) ... as I understand it, the glyphs that are being
displayed appear as a character that kind of looks like a U, whereas they
should display as a ligature that looks kind of like a ornate, reversed K.

I am applying the "liga" feature to ALL_GLYPHS and doing a
TT_GSUB_Apply_String, I am expecting the ligature substitution to occur
there.   But only the substitutions for the other features occur.

I believe that you need to use other features like "fina", etc.. for arabic.
Werner and Antoine would probably be able to answer more precisely on this..

Have you tried to display Arabic with Arial and the "ftstrtto" demonstration
program ? Have you read its source code ? Sorry if my question seems
stupid..
