[Freetype] tt to pt1

Hello !

Can someone please explain me the conversion process that is needed to 
convert a truetype glyph into postscript type 1. I have gone through some of 
the files of free type API. But i am not getting the whole process which 
goes on to convert a quadratic bezier curve to a cubic one. I was also going 
through an interesting function FT_Outline_Decompose. If i am in the right 
direction then please explain me this function as it is giving refernce to 
quite a few other variables so i am not able to know what actually is taking 
place as the conversion process inside that function.
if this is not the function then please guide me towards the right function.
