Hi people,

I was reading about GeoServer when I noticed that it is licensed under GNU GPLv2.
However, in the 'About' page (as you can see here http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/What+is+Geoserver), they say:

Use Free and Open Source Software

GeoServer is free software. This significantly lowers the financial barrier to entry when compared to traditional GIS products. In addition, not only is it available free of charge, it is also open source. Bug fixes and feature improvements in open source software are greatly accelerated when compared to traditional software solutions. Leveraging GeoServer in your organization also prevents software lock-in, saving costly support contracts down the road.

In my humble opinion, it's clear that they're using the term 'free' only as in free of charge, while the other advantages, are being called Open Source software qualities. Maybe we should write some report to let them know they're misunderstanding some concepts.

Best regards,
