usage of GtkFixed is fine in our case and your fix is indeed fine.
Would you commit it?

ok, I've just committed both

The error message in xgnokii/xgnokii_xkeyb.c:GUI_ShowXkeyb

"Cannot load background pixmap!"

should be changed to suggest installing gnokii-artwork (of course :-) I hadn't yet installed it) or checking that the files are in the right place and readable and that the model is supported, but I can't think of a decent message right now

OTOH the list of phones that have a background picture for the Keyboard is short and hardcoded, namely:

6110, 6120 "/xpm/keyb_6110.xpm"
6130, 6150, 616x, 6185, 6190 "/xpm/keyb_6150.xpm"
5110, 5130, 5160, 5190 "/xpm/keyb_5110.xpm"

but more phones support pressing keys, so I'm thinking of a way to enable this menu and choose one of these skins at runtime, maybe in Options, and this could be done for the other menus that are enabled with flags in phoneMonitor.supported I wouldn't let the user save these but rather ask them to report here in the list what works so that can be set at compile time
