As Florian said, the (easy) readahead bit is already there.  I'm
afraid I'll be rather busy with real work for a few weeks (deadline
coming up), so you'd better put it on your TODO list.

Now that I have you here, though, I might as well mention a (rather
crude, at the moment) change I have just committed; available from
