I've been trying to figure out whether what's desirable is 1. doing it specifically for patch logs 2. doing it for files that match the exclude regexp 3. some other kind of criteriaThe problem with the exclude regexp is that it's intended for user convenience, not program correctness. The other problem is that it would work in the common case. :-)
