1. I apologize.

   There is an old tradition on g-a-u of bursting out into flame-wars,
   following them up with lots of philosophical back and forth,
   ultimately working things out, and moving forward.

   It's a very fine *old* tradition but -- I was wrong -- it's not
   right for the project at its current level of greater maturity and
   popularity.

   I had good reasons for flaming James right back: but not good
   enough and not reasons consistent with keeping the project moving
   forward in a healthy way in spite of recent set backs.

   I apologize.


2. Nothing to see here, move along.

   As a reformed sinner, I'll join the prosthletizers:

   Let's drop the James/Tom flames.  Let's hope he comes to some state
   that he and the contributors are comfortable with wrt to the fate
   of his archives.  And let's move on.


3. In a sick and twisted way: this is a fantastic opportunity!

   So now we have a minor crisis: how to get back to forward progress
   in a way that everybody wins.

   I said earlier I was taking a 1 week vacation from g-a-u.   Wishful
   thinking, on my part.

   Instead, I'm taking a 1 week period to focus on the problem of 
   "where from here?"   How do we best get back on track to continue
   the really great parts of what James had been doing:

        1. Intregration work (including: can we recover the work he's
           already done in a way that everybody is comfortable with?)

        2. Release Candidates and Calendar management: Monthly release
           candidates, a subset of which turn into actual releases,
           each of which those who can are encouraged to test --- win,
           win, win!

    One way or another, we need to get those elements of the project 
    back on track.   

    Let's turn our attention there, please, rather than on the burning 
    question of whether or not I am the world's biggest ass.  (Let's
    just say I am, and leave it at that. :-)
