re all,
First thanks for the interesting thread[1]. i didn't knew Iron before
and now investigating it with interest.
At dyne.org we are actively developing a VM that also parses
javascript code FreeJ[2] (but still using spidermonkey) while one of
us is the Debian package mantainer of libV8[2]
Obviously we are really interested in following Chromium developments
and affine paths.

IMHO this "integration" argument is not really relevant.
it can be observed that integration is mostly leading to bloat if
compared to interoperability approaches that keep more possibilities
open and yet replicate less code. It's an old *NIX adagio in SW
design and an actual frustration with systems as GNOME or KDE.
for a more extensive illustration of this argument on this Chrom*
topic, a recent commentary written by my friend Merc sheds some light
http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/columns/google_chrome_os_or_how_kde_and_gnome_managed_shoot_each_other_dead
at last, in case anyone has good pointers on how to write plugins for
Chromium, we'd be really interested in studying how to port FreeJ to
it and gladly accept any contribution in that direction.
warm greetings to all of you freedom angels and best wishes for a
happy and productive new year, whatever calendar you're following :)
