I used to for some time, and I liked it. However, I have come to the
conclusion that it is a lot easier to maintain one single distro instead of a
dozen different ones, and now I am using Debian to exclusion - a selection
made through an evolutionary process over many years.
I don't think there is a single good reason *not* to use Debian except for the
admittedly very poor installer & hardware detection. However, this has been
overcome by Knoppix and the likes. I reckon Debian developers should just
take any of the stripped-down basic Knoppix derivates and bolt a fool-proof
hard disk install script on top of it.
Benefits:
- you can try the system out before you install it: you know it's going to
work (and what's not working) before you waste your time modifying your
system.
- installation can be completely unattended (after trying it out and
configuring it "live" from CD)
