Perhaps we're all talking about different cases?

1. python2 only:

     already implemented

2. python 3 only:

   Robert Norris's patch, above

3. python2 and python3:

   my problem.

To clarify what I mean, I went ahead and implemented a patch (attached). However, it should probably have input from someone who knows the Sconstruct file a bit better...

Particularly, I'm worried about the side affects of the `GetPythonValue` function.

Tested to works on my system: (Ubuntu 16.03 LTS, with both python2.7 & python3.5), but further testing wouldn't hurt.
