Good, that cofirme bxed's patch broke it.  I'll revert the broken
part of his broken patch soon.

I think this is now fixed in git head.  Please test.

Easy to get a fresh copy of git head:

    # git clone https://gitlab.com/gpsd/gpsd.git

Or, if you have a copy of gpsd git, enter that directory and dO;

    # git pull
