I did have the URL connection segment in the tryton.conf file
I seem to have made some progress — the problem appears to have been that the postgres.conf file did not permit network port connections

Basiwyou need to pass the postgre user password and connection type to tryton server in order to be able to connect to the database.
This doesn’t appear to be documented in the instruction though —
