I see this on my system:

$ ls -l /dev/dsp
crw-rw---T+ 1 root audio 14, 3 Sep 26 16:16 /dev/dsp

It seems that all one needs to do as user "thisismyself" is something like

$ sudo adduser thisismyself audio

and that should be it...
