Yes, this probably is the problem.

I don't know if it is right to say, that songanizer does not have
support for OGG files. I would rather say it has only support for ID3v1
and no support for ID3v2.

The problem for me is that I had tagged most of my MP3s with ID3v1
tags, but when I convert them to Ogg Vorbis, ogginfo reports that they
are broken Ogg files. I used dirogg to do the conversion. Moreover I
can not edit the tag of these corrupted files using XMMS. In that way
I was straddled to some extent.

However in my opinion it is high time we started thinking about ID3v2
support. Many players like XMMS simply do not use ID3v1 tags, and the
1.0 release should be complete in as many respects as possible.

I have almost made my mind in favour of using ogginfo for the Ogg
Vorbis files. Does anybody have any choices for the MP3 files?
Remember it should be possible to use it from the CLI.

Happy hacking,
Debarshi
