[VCDImager] compiling on RH8

I get the following error when trying to build on RH8 (gcc version 3.2
20020903 (Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7):

I searched the mail archive for "flexible array member" and found a post
to this problem in November, but no solution.

Is there a solution to this issue?
