Do you know vi (the text editor)?
can you edit /etc/X11/XF6Config-4 with vi and suppress all the lines
with "Modeline" at begin ?
and restart startx?

If that not works, can you add
Option "MonitorLayout" "LCD"
below the Option "UseFBDev" ?

there is something wrong in the conf.
