What I meant with my confused description, was 2 things:
1. Will there be a difference between a8*2/3, a8*4/6, a8*1*2/3 and a4*2/6?
2. tuplets must be grouped somehow in order for this function to be useful.
I.e.,
\tupletify { c8 c8*2/3 c c c8 }
should turn into:
{ c8 \times 2/3 {c8 c c} c8 }
and not:
{ c8 \times 2/3 {c8} \times 2/3 {c} \times 2/3 {c} c8 }
