I managed to compile and install Lilypond 2.8.6 on Cygwin; however, the
executable doesn't work properly. I'm sending a bug report to the corresponding
list...

Meanwhile, I'll be working with the binaries provided for Windows, and ask the
user list how to use lilypond-book on Windoze, with MiKTeX; wish me luck.
