I had the problem a day or so ago, Phil. I ended up completely nuking /lilypond-git and using lily-git to restart. I didn't have a recent enough tarball to be worth simply copying the file over, as a test. The nuke to bare metal seems to have done it. The truly wierd thing, now that I recall a bit more in detail, was that I couldn't find a trace of AUTHORS.texi using git cola or gitg. Of course, I may have been searching for a misspelling, but even browsing in tree mode didn't show me anything.
