to get it to finish on the barline or as close to the barline as
possible i unexpectedly found this trick:
r4 b''4( \< < \!) c2 {s16\> s s s s s s \! s} > | R1 |
if the spacing of the hairpins is too close, then you could start the
decrescendo on the second s16.
