Well when you said rasterized, it took me a second because I thought I was dealing with vector...sorry.
So this is what I have explained a few times now. If you start with a vector description of a hairpin, and print it on a raster device (a printer) something has to convert it from vector to raster. That something would seem to be where your problem lies.
