Just commit it please. It'll be better than what I did (I'll attach mine,
just so that you can see which areas I hacked).

Sure, if (as I surmise) they affect only autotoolization. Please notify me
by email (here or off the list) when all these changes have been committed,
so that I can test the full changeset.

BTW, here are the instructions I'm currently using:
