problems with lout.rpm package under linux

Hello,
I just started to use lout and found it very nice. It works under 
Win98. Now I tried to use lout under linux and installed the rpm 
package under Mandrake 8.1 (more or less the same as RedHat).
When I try to create a document I get this error message:

"fatal error: no current font at word"

I don't know how to deal with that error message.
