i put up the 2.8.2dev.2 patch - connecting to sol is very slow, so I'll
pick up detailed changes in the morning.  This patch integrates Jim
Spath's message library changes. There's more work to do on that, but
it's workable as is (I undid much of the embedding of html into the
message fragments, but haven't gone through the French message file
to update _that_ yet).
