mime types are the server side of things - mailcap is the user side of things.
The mailcap indicates that when a file of some type is encountered,
the helper specified should be used. The mime types tell a server that
if a file of with a particular extension is being sent, it should be
considered containing particular info.
lynx supports mime types for ftp protocol handling, since ftp currently
doesn't support mime file typing. gopher and http do, so lynx operates
on the principle of 'treat the file as being of the type that the
server (providing the file) says that it is'.
