Yes, "duplicate pair" is described in
Section 29.1 of the Manual:
Duplicate points in x specify a discontinuous interpolant. There should be at
2 consecutive points with the same value. The discontinuous interpolant is

soon.  "sitrctly monotonic" should read "distinct"
