Follow-up Comment #3, bug #39305 (project octave):

Here are a couple more observations related to this:

1. If no text is selected, Ctrl-C does indeed cancel the current line.
However, the menu item Edit->Copy is still clickable and also cancels the
current line (not the right-click context menu Copy).

2. Same thing with Edit->Paste, it is active and clickable but does nothing
when the clipboard is cleared.

3. Is it possible to allow the Ctrl-V to be passed through to readline when
the clipboard is empty? This is normally connected to the "quoted-insert"
readline function.
