Update of bug #41395 (project octave):
Status: None => Confirmed
_______________________________________________________
Follow-up Comment #1:
It's very probably the notorious "clear all" bug that's popping up.
Just google for '"clear all" octave bug' and you'll see reports dating back
from 2008. AFAIU it manifests itself especially on MinGW but looking at the
bug reports tru google it seems linux builds are also affected.
I couldn't find an explicit bug report for it. But I'm fairly certain this is
a duplicate. Marking as "confirmed" for the time being.
My Octave-3.8.0 (another build than the one from Markus), running on XP,
disappears from sight as soon as the first "clear all" statement is executed.
It used to be related/caused/triggered by certain OF packages, but on my box
this "crash" happens w/o any OF package loaded.
After a fresh restart of Octave, "clear all" appears harmless. Only after
having executed certain instructions/functions/commands the bug condition is
triggered and a "clear all" command makes Octave disappear.
The bug can be avoided by invoking the clear command w/o the "all" parameter.
