Details:

Title should say it all :-)

As an example a pic of the variable editor is attached, but the text editor
(that I usually have undocked and on a second monitor) doesn't have a dock
button either.
This makes it impossible to redock panes - unless there's another way that I'm
unaware off?

If the only way to redock panes is moving it into place (doesn't work on
Windows) it would be a Good Thing to invent some alternative way, e.g. some
context menu item of a main menu View command "Redock all panes". The "Reset
Default Window Layout" button is a bit too invasive IMO.
