Update of bug #49119 (project octave):

Follow-up Comment #24:
Changeset http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/7644e7f1721f provides
the function
__octave_link_gui_preference__ (key, value)
which now can be used for setting the pref "editor/show_dbg_file" to "false"
while storing the value returned by the function (the previous value) for
restoring it later.
